Leaves are changing a bit late this year in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Snow the first weekend of October has caused some of the aspens to go brown before turning their bright yellow, orange and red.

Trees that are apt to turn color are doing so now at lake level. The spectrum of color is just beginning to show up in Hope Valley, with Sorensen’s Resort boasting the most color.

North of Stateline is the Bourne Meadow — which is just now beginning to show its fall colors.

Farther up Highway 50, shades of orange and red are sprouting near Spooner Summit.
