2 people survive plane crash in Truckee

On Dec. 13 at about 5:30pm the Truckee Police Department

dispatch center received a report of an aircraft accident near the Truckee Tahoe Airport.

Law enforcement personnel located the crash site minutes later, south of the Highway 267 bypass. The pilot and passenger, both from the San Francisco Bay Area, walked

away from the damaged plane uninjured. The pilot of the single engine turbo prop TBM 850 aircraft was on approach to the Truckee Tahoe Airport with limited visibility when he encountered problems handling the aircraft. The plane crashed in an unpopulated area, into several feet of snow.

The investigation into the cause of the accident has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
