Blasting massive boulder on Hwy. 50 may snarl traffic

Work crews in El Dorado County were planning Monday to blast a giant boulder looming on a hillside above Highway 50, a key route that connects the Sacramento area with Lake Tahoe.
The 400-ton rock, which is hanging precariously above the road about 20 miles east of Placerville near Bridal Veil Falls, poses no immediate danger, but the California Department of Transportation is worried it will fall in the future.
