Tahoe-Reno medical staff making a difference in Haiti

It didn’t take long for a Reno nurse to decide to pack her stethoscope and scrubs and volunteer in Haiti after the devastating earthquake on Jan. 12.

When Burners Without Borders sent a request on Jan. 25, saying they needed doctors and nurses, Chelsea Chen, a labor and delivery nurse at Renown Health and 10-year participant in Burning Man, said she had to go.

“I felt this pull,” Chen said. “These people need help, and I can help them. There is no reason not to.”
