Annual July 5 cleanup crew seeks volunteers

Ken Curtzwiler has been organizing a crew of volunteers via his business K&K Services for the last 10 years to clean up South Lake Tahoe beaches after Fourth of July.

Volunteers are always needed. Meet at the El Dorado Beach parking lot at 6am to volunteer.

Curtzwiler provides the gloves.

It will definitely give participants a different view of Fourth of July in Lake Tahoe.

Yeah, 6am is pretty early for me too! I could be there at 9am. What beaches are cleaned? More than just El Dorado?

Kenny here. We meet at the El Dorado Beach parking lot at around 6 am. We start at thr far east side of the beach(accross the street from the Aloha Ice Cream) and work our way west. We then clean the grassy area, rake evrything and haul away the garbage. We also go down to the sandy area and walk the entire beach to clean it. We then walk the entire walkway along the water to Reagan where we clean up Reagan the same way, rake the lawn and haul away the garbage. We supply the gloves, trucks and labor and I will try and have coffee there also! We usually are done by 10:30. We start early because of the traffic and the beach looks great cleaned when the sun comes up!!

What a great thing you are doing for our community. Thanks so much! The coffee is a great idea! Wondering if there is a coffee vendor out there who is willing to donate for a good cause?

Thank You Kae for putting this in the correct way lol. I sent the same e-mail to the Trib and all they had to do was cut and paste or actually read it and I might have gotten a few more people. They put 6PM in the paper instead of 6AM like I sent them. Talk about messing up a wet dream. Hopefully I will see some volunteers. I will provide the Rakes, Gloves, Trash Cans, Trucks, Trailers and Brooms and am even trying to rustle up some coffee.
