Thousands of ballots not counted in June primary

It’s the flip side of vote-by-mail ballots.
As the number of people voting by mail balloons in California, another trend is growing, too: Thousands of California ballots went uncounted in last Tuesday’s election because they arrived too late – after polls closed at 8 p.m.
“It’s very sad to see,” lamented William E. Schultz, El Dorado County’s registrar of voters. “I think that probably the Legislature should think about having a five-day window for ballots to be received, and as long as the county has not certified the election … to give the voter a right to have his vote counted.”
Why? The utility and credit card companies give you a date when your paid bill needs to be received. They don’t give you a 5 day window. If you can’t mail your ballot back on time, you DO have the option of dropping it off at a polling place. Come on, People, be responsible. If not, you don’t deserve to vote.
Dog that’s why people don’t vote here.
Seems to me if it is postmarked on or before election day it should be counted. shouldn’t take more than 2 days to get from anywhere in any county to that counties election offices. Another good idea being turned into a bad one. We deserve to have our votes counted!
