Tahoe brothers bring their ‘Deadliest Catch’ stardom to Reno

For Keith and Monte Colburn, crab is still king.

The brothers are the captain and relief captain, respectively, of the “Wizard,” one of the boats on “Deadliest Catch,” the popular Discovery Channel series about crab fishing in the Bering Sea.

But despite television stardom, the Colburns say it’s crustaceans, not cameras, that still draw them to some of the brawniest waters on Earth.

“We’re crab fishermen; it’s what we do,” Monte Colburn said. “It’s been paying the bills all these years.”

The brothers, who grew up at Lake Tahoe (Monte Colburn still lives there), are scheduled to appear at a meet-and-greet July 31 at the Silver Legacy Resort Casino.
