NV Energy Inc., doubled its net income in the second quarter from the same period in 2009, according to the utility’s earnings report released today.

The Las Vegas-based utility reported profits for the April-June period of $36.9 million, or 16 cents per share, compared with $18.4 million, or 8 cents, a year earlier.
