  1. Leave the river alone says - Posted: September 15, 2010

To spend financial resources on stream restoration work in the current economic financial crisis is a waste. The uncertainty behind the estimated vs actual benefits are risks we should not take even if the money is flowing. There are so many other area where the money would have direct impacts on lake clarity, the ecosystem and local governments. Stop these fluvial science stream projects! Leave the river alone!!!

  2. Keep Tahoe Blue says - Posted: September 16, 2010

Had I read your comments WITHOUT hearing Kathy Strain’s arguments regarding the Upper Truckee River and its effect on the Lake Tahoe Golf Course I would have agreed with your statements. However, her presentation brought into account many reasons why restoration is a win-win for everyone. There is also a short window of time that moneys are available to complete the project so a decision needs to be made soon. I would recommend getting more informed and you, too, may have a change of heart!

Go take a walk through the park. It is free! We in the neighboring area have the Washoe Meadows State park or the burn areas around seneca pond which has become a eye sore for california logging. Where would you rather walk on a regular basis?

This winter, there will be more logging done in the seneca/angora burn area.

If the golf course comes across, tahoe residents and visitors loose the convenient accesses to the river, forest, and meadows that the Washoe Meadows park provides. Why does the privileged golf communities have the best views in tahoe?
