Bring on the opinions — but keep it civil

Lake Tahoe News welcomes and encourages a lively, though civil, discussion as election season heats up.

Everyone’s opinion is important and relevant. If you disagree with what is written, feel free to say so. But refrain from attacking the person who wrote about something you disagree with. Attack the words, not the messenger.

Plenty of decisions are going to be made by voters on the South Shore, and in California and Nevada. Be informed.

The author’s name, hometown and phone number must accompany all guest columns and letters to Lake Tahoe News. The latter is used for verification, not publication.

The last day LTN will publish any letters/columns is noon Oct. 31. This gives people time to comment on whatever may be published at the last minute.

The goal is to have no political commentary published Nov. 2 – Election Day. So, please, get in your opinions prior to then.

And remember to vote.

    Kubby,
When are you going to quit breaking the campaign rules and take your signs off the phone poles on Pioneer trail?

I was wondering why Kubby had signs out in the county on Pioneer Trail? And they seem to have fallen over. Otherwise it seems not many signs for candidates around town. I think I have seen only a few other names.
Just a gas price update: Am/pm in Carson City on Sat. 10/16……..$2.75
    Roadrunner…………….$3.19
    Chevron…….Much Higher Still
So much for the California Average!

Don’t the candidates have to get permission from land owners to post a sign and not use government or utility property?

Was Roadrunner ever any less than any local station? Seems they were the same price or higher than the others at all times. A way to generate negative exposure I suppose. The other newspapers fell for it.

Roadrunner did actual lower the price of regular to 3.05 and the meyers chevron followed along. When the first weekend hit chevron went up about 25 cents, and a tourist wrote in complaining of the price hike from Fri to Sat. I think its been 2 weeks now and roadrunner today, Monday, is at 3.25 and chevron about 3.34!! Roadrunner got some good advertising and probably some new customers who must now be wondering what is up with the $3.25. So I guess, everyone is now back to ripping us off again!! The biggest rip off is Exon on Kingsbury. Today they sit at 3.45!!
