Dorothy Gillemot leaves legacy of philanthropy

Dorothy Gillemot never sought the spotlight, but when someone needed help, she was always the first to step up.
“She always had a smile, and she was always diving in to help everybody,” said Kathleen Kamille, a longtime Lake Tahoe neighbor.
Gillemot, a philanthropist who, along with her husband, George, pledged millions of dollars to the University of Nevada, Reno and other charities, died last week after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was 83.
