Finding inspiration from nature
Perched atop her Pathfinder, Jessica Day is oblivious to traffic whizzing by on Highway 89. Her focus is on Mount Tallac.
Parked in front of the gate at the Tallac Historic Site, Day is sketching the mountain. Her goal is to redesign the shirts at The Brewery, one of two places she works. (The other is Sierra-at-Tahoe.)

“I’m at (Lake Tahoe Community College) dabbling in art and English,” Day said. She graduated from South Tahoe High in 2006.
From the look of her pencil sketch, she is more than dabbling.

It’s just a shame that she can’t get into the site because the gate is locked. There are many beautiful vistas well worth sketching that are off limits now because the forest service has decided to keep the community locked out.
Jessica Day, I love the picture,I sent two nieces to the University of North Texas for art and design,it’s affordable.
Art is a calling,a appreciation of nature,it’s wonderful ,real,rewarding.It has many leads to success,jewelry,potter,fabric design are very rewarding fields to keep you happy.

I’ll back you up on this comment Virginia,it wasn’t always that way till the trpa and the EPA nut cases moved in ,they even locked out the jobs.
At one time when I moved here back in the mid 60’s, my passion was harvesting fire fuels,100 cords of dead standing lodge pole went for 8 to 900 dollars,we loved the open forest,the places I camped for weeks on end ,were beyond words of description.Hidden valleys,streams,wild life,tons ,tons of ripe beautiful tamarack stands waiting for a sweaty day,money in the pocket to spend at Harvey’s Wagon Wheel,pay the rent,labor.
Now we have to spend millions to control what the fuel woods guy did for a decent living .
The green gates, the boulders, the signs, the kings forest are nothing but too much Government control.They let it go to their heads .
