Foible….Scott hardly even came to Tahoe, was based in Vegas. His claim to fame was taking Trump out of bankruptcy with his casinos so he was hired to do the same when Columbia Sussex broke off their Tropicana wing and declared bankruptcy a few years back. Tom was a host at both Horizon and MontBleu…doubt he would have ever wanted the thankless job of a CEO!

Why do you and Alex feel you have to beat up on Tom Davis? Can’t your energies be focused on something where only good can become of it? Would love to see you out helping those less fortunate or just helping in our town. I have lots of ideas if you guys need them!

Did the city ask to put the Marijuana Ordinance in Snippets? Is it being pushed under the rug like Measure E hoping nobody will notice?

This is an important issue to the entire community. The city needs to consider the impact on real estate, our school district with it’s recent investments to stimulate this economy. Who wants to move there children here next door to a grow? Prop 19 only allowed for 25 square feet of a residence for growing. Our city’s draft ordinance will allow 10% of the interior square footage of the home PLUS the garage, PLUS backyard sheds in this ordinance. There is no residential zoning in this ordinance and the fire chief said he will not write a letter for Lukins water district customers to lower the fire rating for insurance companies because the infrastructure is inadequate to sustain fire. We need an ordinance, but it needs to protect everyone not just the growers.

Don’t zoning ordinances address the business of growing pot? I know that you are only supposed to be able to run certain kinds of businesses in residential areas, and I don’t think agriculture for sale is one of them.
    Just wondering.

Love the new Ski Run logo, it’s very fitting :)

Dogwoman the city is in the process of developing a new growing ordinance. They have never had one. Where they zone and what rules need to be followed is all being developed and right now the draft is for a large amount of residential space (The largest in California) with no setbacks from schools or thought to our fire suppression systems. If the city thinks this is a better stimulus package than the school’s measure G, there is a conflict of interest in our community here. Do we really want ALL of our neighborhoods run down slums to attract people to move here?

No, seriously, Pine, I’d have thought that existing zoning would cover that. I mean, I can’t open a kennel in a residential area. You’re only allowed 4 adult dogs in a household in this county. You aren’t allowed to run a business where customers are coming and going in a neighborhood–parking and traffic issues. I think they need to look at what current laws are regarding agricultural vs. urban zoning first. That might solve the issue right there.
