The Family Resource Center in South Lake Tahoe is seeking community members to adopt kids from age 4 months through 16 years old for Christmas.

This year the need is dire. Kids are asking not for electronics or toys, but warm clothes. There are 26 boys and 22 girls still needing adopting.

Contact the FRC at (530) 542.0740.

I am the Pres of Rotary and am curious…

Are your kids included in the Toys for Tots and Christmas Cheer programs, or is this separate. Please call me 530 543 1790. Were your kids eligible for the Coats for Kids Program that we just donated to, also?

    thanks

    Hi Roger:

Great questions. Our kids are not in the Toys for Tots, Christmas Cheer or Women Center programs. The school-age children should have received a coat through Rotary’s Coats for Kids program (Thank You!!!) but they are still definitely in need of snow pants, snow boots, and warm clothing. The FRC still has 29 kids of all ages that need to be adopted.

    Warm regards and Happy Holidays!

Julie….to clarify, the program for coats was spearheaded this year by Kiwanis and they got donations from both Rotary clubs and other entities. Rotarians joined Kiwanians at the schools to hand out the coats. The program used to be run by the LTCC Foundation, but Kiwanis took over when the Foundation could no longer do so.

I hope many in town come forward to help you out!

Dear Loveya: Loveya for setting the record straight! :) That’s right, it was Kiwanis. Bless all our service groups. And yes, we still have 21 kids who need to be adopted out so I hope you are right.
