Correctional officer threatened in grocery store
On Jan. 21 at about 3:50pm, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department received a 911 call from a correctional officer who is employed by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office. The officer, who was off duty and shopping for groceries at Raley’s at the Y was reportedly approached from behind and shoved by a prior inmate, Patrick Solomon.
Solomon, 46, of South Lake Tahoe called the correctional officer by name and continued with a verbal barrage for some unknown reason, officers said.
Solomon reportedly resisted arrest and had to be taken to the ground by Officer Jake Herminghaus. Solomon received minor lacerations to his head and was transported by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Solomon has a violent history with local law enforcement and was charged with battery on a custodial officer and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors in California.
I was there… He definatly received some cuts. The dude was out of control. He scared mt small children and he had no care or concern for the general public. It was good to see our officers responding as professionally as they did, they did a good job!
Good job SLTPD, and as always, strong work Jake! This guy scared the crap out of alot of people in the store, and this was an excellent demonstration of how police officers PROTECT us, instead of the unfortunate all-too common opinion that cops are just out to get us. It’s important to remember that cops work FOR us, and are sworn to protect and serve the public that hires them to do the dirty work that they can’t or won’t do for themselves.
It’s god to hear that Correctional Officers and the local police police have a good working relationship. It must be scary for a Correctional Officer in suck a small town that has such a high crime rate. Co’s spend more time with these dirt bags than their own family’s. My hat goes off to the co for not taking matters into his own hands. It shows great self control.
Give’em a fair trial(wink) and hang’em at noon.
I trust the PD obtained a search warrent for his home. I would not be suprised if he had a gun hidden there.
Since when is patting a local on the back and saying hello assault? There was no contact other than that. How many sources did the reporter use? A very one sided report void of facts.
The CO handled handled this situation with extreme professionalism. He could have gone off on that @ss but did not. That’s CONTROL.

Yes, our Justice system is most effective when it kills people. It is effective *(in reducing crime), and accurate and fair (not executing people who are innocent and not executing people on any racial bias)
oh wait, this is america, none of that happens.
