South Tahoe Ace store calls it quits

image_pdfimage_print

Ace Hardware on Lake Tahoe Boulevard in South Lake Tahoe closed today.

“We just can’t make it. We cannot afford to keep the store open,” said Neil, who answered the phone Monday afternoon, but would not give his last name.

He said the closure had nothing to do with the DIY store opening nearby last year. He said the closing was “a personal thing”.

Mufflers to Hardware all in a week time span.
    The Economy picking up?
The White House and the two houses are blowing you full inflated numbers to make the bleeding not seem like a train wreck.
Don’t trip over each other getting down to the free business grants to apply, Boy sure good to know we got grants coming in.
But they all say we are number one with ski destination. There’s plenty room out there, no kidding. Got a holiday coming, that help.(why doesn’t the marketing blow all the money we got left on a super bowl add)? Can’t win if you don’t roll the dice. At least we would get a honest answer .They show up or we go broke.

Dog..I know you’re pretty witty… doesn’t it blow your wallet to know the same old consultants the city uses are same bunch that been filling the residents full bull in the Tribune ,ltn ,Mountain for years,(yes they even had their hands in on our famous city grave site on State-line,50.) Same old worn out writers consultants, same old worn out marketing theories they learned back in hay days of the 76 station, Tahoe T’S,SHELL STATION,red carpet inn, taco bell…
    Who really believes these consultants?
Why does the city keep giving the cash to the same group people for yesterday old news papers with data anyone can find online? From the ltva to the chamber commencer, same names, same line BS, No results! A making of a ghost town on the lake.
Does anyone “REALLY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO BILLS CASINO VISION?”
GIRLS, MORE STORE CRAP, DINERS,”MIKE, ARE YOU RUNNING A PRIVATE POKER DEN FOR INVITED HIGH STAKES BEHIND CLOSE DOORS LIKE THE CITY?”
If so, hurry up open, so we got a new place to check out, the rest are dropping like flies, they plan got old, we need some new action to look at, experence.

Old School- WAKE UP, The guy at Ace said it had nothing to do with the DIY store. To bad to see Ace go, they were a great choice besides over priced Scottys! Also, did everyone know Blockbuster is closing? They will be closed this week!

I just noticed last week that one of the Napa stores (Tallac) appeared closed. Not even a peep of what happened. Could they just be remodeling or what? Anyone know? How long ago did they close or are they?

I saw that too Louis…pulled in to grab some oil, and voila, it was closed! Don’t know what happened and forgot to ask the owners of the other Napa when I saw them last. I will miss Ace. Stopped in there often…guess there goes my rewards card points and no more Penny’s catalog buying!

Hmm…wonder what will go in the old Ace spot. Something to cater to the high school and neighborhood would be a money maker. Redo the parking lot, put in some outside garden seating and make it a nice little deli/Fresh Choice style place. Where are those $$$ when I need them?? :)

Napa closed some time ago. Owners were unable to afford to keep two stores open. Yep, the economy is in great shape!

Napa has a store across from the old Ace hardware. I think I’am the only business left from redevelopment phase 1 and 2, stateline to lakeland village, out of over 70 private small business in the area in 1988 with one exception the Chevron gas station. I guess they were too big to take on.

NAPA closed the Bijou store several months ago. There was not enough automotive parts business to support two stores. Both had the same owner. The “Y” store is still doing well.
