Truckee bookkeeper accused of embezzlement

Truckee resident Keri L. Campbell, 37, was arrested Jan. 26 on embezzlement charges.

Campbell is an independent contract bookkeeper for several businesses in the Truckee–Tahoe region. Campbell is alleged to have embezzled more than $80,000 from at least one business while employed as a part-time bookkeeper. Campbell was booked into the Nevada County Jail  in Nevada City.

Truckee police are gathering additional information on this case and anyone who may have additional information is asked to contact Detective Arnie Lopez at (530) 550.2336 or Detective Danny Renfrow at (530) 550-2339.

    They rarely punish embezzlers nearly hard enough. They should make these people do SERIOUS time and pay it back with interest to discourage others from following in their footsteps. Embezzlement just seems to be SUCH a common crime up here. It stinks.

    Our firm provides bookkeeping services in Carson City… this sort of thing is always a big “See I Told You So” for us.

    We have long-advised against businesses trusting someone who is not a Certified Public Accountant to handle the most important part of their business. There is no Professional Expertise & more importantly, No Accountability.

    Sad.
