National weather service forcast are always the worst case, 90% of the time. They have never created a storm or has Kelly blue book ever bought a car. But it’s good for the ski industry.

It gets exhausting listening to the “locals” complain about the tourists. Never have I encountered so many short sighted folks. I know it can be annoying to have hoards of people descend upon our area at once. Let’s remember, those tourist are a major driving force for our local economy. If they stopped visiting, many businesses would be forced to close. If it bothers you that much, perhaps you should heed your own advice and LEAVE TAHOE. I hear MInden is pretty quiet year round…..

Amen to GladysK! For God’s sake. We live in a tourist town and many of our friends and family rely on the tourist dollars for their livelihood. I agree with you Gladys. Leave Tahoe needs to follow his/her own advice.

How short-sided of any local when they tell a tourist to leave or go home. How did that local discover Tahoe? Some locals around here should look at themselves in a mirror and see the hate on their face. Hate crimes are not exclusive to race. Any such prejudice comments such as ” leave tahoe” made should be screened by this news group and not be allowed to be voiced. I don’t want visitors reading hate mail and feeling they are not welcomed. They are what make this wonderful South Lake Tahoe so special. They are the spice in the soup.

As a resident of South Lake Tahoe for well over thirty years, I agree with the sentiments of those whe embrace the tourists, they are a large part of our economy and I welcome them. As far as the tourists making headaches for us, I have seen just as many “locals” driving like idiots in the snow as I have seen tourists. Being a local does not impart special protections for your poor driving. Everyone needs to slow down and be courteous.

Geeezzzz, how did we survive last week’ storm without a warning from the sheriff!

Yes, this town does run on tourists, but why can’t we keep them out of our neighborhoods?!! We need to put them back in lodging on hwy 50. I didn’t buy my house with the intent of “sharing” my neighborhood, my peace and quiet, my HOME, with tourists.
