Alpine County is trying to improve radio communication in the Hope Valley area by installing infrastructure on Hawkins Peak.

In order to power the remote communications facility on the peak, the solar panel modules, power storage and electrical equipment will be put in about 1,800 feet away down slope.

Power is sent from the solar generation site to the communications site via two partially underground power cables.

Alpine County is accepting bids on the project until March 25.
