Zephyr Cove district plans to replace leaky water pipes
Zephyr Water Utility District plans to replace water lines this summer that at times leak 50 percent of the water being pumped.
The district provides drinking water to the Zephyr Cove area.
The proposed project would replace pipes on Lakeview Drive and Lakeview Court. The project also would include replacement of the ozone generators at the treatment plan. One of the two generators doesn’t work. Both are 14 years old, with replacement parts not available. That is why officials are proposing to replace both generators.
The district plans to use $1 million from Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Assistance.
That agency is taking comments on the project. Contact Adele Basham at (775) 687.9488 or abasham@ndep.nv.gov.

All water district in the nv. side of the south shore should join together for production, distribution, and exchange of the water they sell. The area from stateline to caverock now has at least 4 districts, which dictates a economy of scale should decrease rates if the districts join together.
You would only know if 50% is being lost if you measured production and end distribution. The only way to do this is with meters, on both ends and the loss of water goes into the same watershed its pumped from, so no net loss of water.
Why are they using taxpayer dollars to fix a private water company problem?
