Douglas County Bar Association taking on broader role

The Douglas County Bar Association took a major step to further its primary goal of elevating the standard of honor, integrity and courtesy in the legal profession by formalizing its organizational structure.

Patrick King, the newly elected president for 2011-12, filed with the secretary of state articles of incorporation establishing the Douglas County Bar Association as a nonprofit 501(c)6 corporation.

Membership is not limited to attorneys, but includes those affiliated with the law and the administration of justice who share a commitment to excellence and to advance the science of jurisprudence.

The annual membership fee is $30. Luncheon meetings are the third Thursday of each month. The April meeting is April 21 at the Minden Food Company, 1599 Esmeralda Ave., Minden from t 11:30am-1pm. Michael Millward will talk about bankruptcy. RSVP by April 15 to (775) 265.2200.
