Federal government shutdown averted

Congress and the White House late Friday barely beat the clock and averted a partial government shutdown, agreeing to a last-minute deal to cut at least $38.5 billion from federal spending.

Congress will not vote on the deal, which would fund the government for the last six months of the fiscal year, until next week. In the meantime, negotiators agreed to a shorter-term stopgap spending plan to keep the government running through Thursday.

Approval was expected late Friday to keep the government open past midnight.

    And the tax break, indirect subsidies for oil companies add up to how many billions of dollars?
    Ans those wealthiest Americans and their tax breaks, cost how much? Good thing they created so many jobs….

    You would know the gov’t shut down because the lines at the food bank and lines for meals at the churches would get longer..filled by people who are one pay check away from being homeless and going hungry. Those people are your neighbors and you may not even know they are in trouble.
