Very small sample, but I guess the road closure won’t hurt the turnout after all.
What I’ve been saying all along. Those numbers are greatly inflated. Worked one of these events in Monterey. Nobody there except locals. It is too brief an exposure to make a 4-5 hour drive for 20 minutes of racing. You’ll see.
The other papers local poll.
Will you watch the Amgen Tour of California?
B. No, not interested. 63.57%

The primary benefit of Amgen to Lake Tahoe is the publicity promoting our area as a cycling and outdoor recreational destination. The coverage will reach internationally. Those purportedly small percentages of interest become large numbers of people when pextended to the grater population the media coverage will reach.
It is not about the race. It is about Tahoe!
The first time I saw the Amgen race I was only there because friends wanted to watch. I had NO idea how intense and cool the moment the cyclists came whizzing by me was. If you’ve never seen this IN PERSON, it is a MUST. It will feel like a freight train shooting down Lake Tahoe Blvd. Anyone who lives here and doesn’t make time to see the event is really missing out.
