Regional charitable giving below national average

By Cathy Locke, Sacramento Bee

Residents of the Sacramento region are less likely to give to charity than their counterparts nationwide – and the average amount given per household lags behind the national average.

These are among the findings of the Greater Sacramento Generosity Project scheduled for release this week, and the impetus for a campaign this fall to boost charitable giving.

The project, commissioned by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation and the Nonprofit Resource Center, found that 62 percent of households in the four-county region — El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo – give to charities, compared with 66 percent of households nationwide. The average annual contribution per donor household in the Sacramento region is $1,990, trailing the national average of $2,355.

There was a university study done 4 yrs ago that found that Liberals talk charity but consevitives were the real givers of time and money.

Plus the study found that Liberals were much more likely to tell people how generous they were and conservitives kept it to themselves.

Sounds like this study bears this out.

I know I find liberals to be self congradulatory types. Ignorant on most issues but Full of their self importance. Always willingg
    to spend other peoples money.

I have no respect for self inflated liberals. Look what they have done to the State of CA.

Sacramento region is full of liberals so no suprises in this article.

Right ON, PubWorksTV. This didn’t surprise me either. Blue State stats!

Bongo, if you actually cared about the study we know you have the computer savvy to look it up yourself. And you could click on Kae’s link to the whole story for more info as well. At least this news site is willing to post stories whether they paint liberals in a good light or not. Sometimes the truth is hard to take, huh? Conservatives know we aren’t perfect. An awful lot of libs don’t seem able to acknowledge the same about themselves. Bongo.

Still no link to the study.
The burden of proof is not on me. I did find one mention of such a study and it was extremely biased.
I want to read the study. Link it up.

I find it rather interesting that this forum immediately paints the picture of the Sacramento 4-corners area as being predominately liberal; when the majority of the population in Placer, El Dorado, and Nevada Counties are conservative. That proof is in the State and Federal legislators from these districts.

Yes, since when are stats about the Sacramento region stats about liberals? Quite a leap there!
