TRPA employees stop driving for a day

Weather got in the way of the first date set for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency staff to not drive to work. But when it stopped snowing, nearly 60 people (which includes people in adjoining offices) left their vehicles at home on June 3.

All of this was part of the annual bike to work program which is all about using two wheels. But on this particular day employees could take public transit or walk — just not use a passenger vehicle.

Reducing vehicle miles traveled is a big part of the bi-state regulatory agency’s mantra.

Please stop breaking your arms patting yourselves on the back. How many TRPA government employees walked to and from work, how many took gasoline or diesel powered vehicles, and how many used bikes?
What was the average distance traveled by each group?
I bet you don’t want to tell me.
How much did this cost the taxpayer for this stunt? What about wasted time?
Was this Joanna’s idea? Just brilliant
I would have loved to see all the in shape employees, including Joanna, pedaling up and down Kingsbury.
    Give me a break.

I know a TRPA employee that regularly uses a bike and bus, traveling from Christmas Valley.
Also if this is part of bike to work week, there is a website with lots of data.
You seem to really like data.
