Each child received a certificate, a gift card to Borders books and the school library was presented with three popular novels to add to their collection.

Jonathan stated, “The Lightning Thief series helps me to think and imagine what people might look like.”

Alexis added, “I like interesting facts, and excitement because you don’t know what is going to happen next.”

In addition to the awards, students in grades K-8 received individual books on their reading level to take home for the summer to enjoy.

These awards and books for the schools in California and Nevada are one of the many programs promoted by the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra in their support of children and their education.
