South Tahoe Y gas station in the works
A gas station, convenience store and car wash could break ground this fall at the Y in South Lake Tahoe at the site of the old Shell station.
Raley’s, which leases the land from the Salvo Trust, has all the paperwork before South Lake Tahoe officials and has asked for an expedited review before the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency.
If it all comes together, a foundation could be put in this fall before dirt can no longer be moved.
The city is in the design review stage, with it expected to be before the planning commission in September.

I hope they require them to put a lovely garden exterior in front similar to the one at Safeway. That will really improve that blighted corner. If so, I say “Hooray! At long last!”
Cosmetic views mandated by government is questionable at best. If the government wants to control everything, why don’t they operate the business like every other government monopoly that gets the worst consumer reviews.
It’s nice to see that some people have confidence in our town to invest in new businesses near the Y. Next let’s hope we see some investment near the TAHOLE.
South Lake Tahoe will still remain the dump it has become in the last 20+ years until you remove the garbage that runs it and the crooked law enforcement in that basin including C.H.P., South Tahoe Police, District Attorneys, and Public Defenders who force pleas out of it citizens by any means necessary including threats.
It will be a great asset to the Y. I have always wondered why there was not a nice full size car wash in SLT. I have a vacation condo there and travel 500 miles to get there and have tons of bugs all over my car and all there is to clean them are those silly coin washes that do nothing to get the bugs off. I say Hats off to them and hoping it goes through…love it!
My Oh My, Sam!whats going on? What happened to cause such vitriol?
Congratulations to Les and his station.
The GRAND JURY agrees with him basically on at least 1 count (SLTPD issues) to some degree. I wonder why some locals call the public defender, the “public convicter” (this is no joke)
