Liberty Energy reported a power outage Saturday night affecting the South Tahoe Public Utility District wastewater treatment plant and Lake Tahoe Community College.

Ours was one of those homes that was without power for four hours that night. When I called Liberty Energy to check on the status of the outage I was directed to “leave a message” to report the outage and, “we will call you if we need to talk to you”. What happened to the good old days of customer service, when the emergency number was an actual person or, at the very least, you received a recorded message informing you of the status of the outage? I miss those days.

What happened is huge corporate profits and rediculous bonuses for corporate managers and executives. The customer services have been cut by almost all companies, including the utilities, while the bonuses have increased dramatically. Meanwhile, the wages and benefits of the remaining workers are under attack. What is left are workers who have terrible morale and no respect for their company. Also, managers that can’t quite understand why their workers hate their company. It should be pretty obvious. Companies take care of their workers and their workers will take care of the company.
