Authors to sign book about Dangberg ranching empire

Steve Achard and Conrad Buedel, authors of Lost Legacy of Carson Valley, “The Rise and Fall of the H.F. Dangberg Ranching Empire”, have two book signings scheduled this week.

They will be set up next to the Wine Walk registration table at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center on Aug. 18 from 4:30 to 7:30pm. The museum is located at 1477 Highway 395 in the old high school. They will donate $3 for each book sold that night to the Douglas County Historical Society.

Achard and Buedel will also be signing books at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Aug. 20 from 11am to 2pm. The park is located at 1450 Highway 88, midway between the Carson Valley Swim Center and the Carson Valley Veterinary Hospital. They will donate $3 for each book sold that day to Friends of the Dangberg Home Ranch.

Lost Legacy of Carson Valley is the first comprehensive book about the history of Henry Fred Dangberg and his family. It chronicles the exhilarating rise and the devastating fall of one of Nevada’s most prominent pioneer families. The large 306-page book contains hundreds of personal family photographs along with rare documents and letters never seen before. It reveals the private lives of the legendary Dangberg family and the secrets that were kept quiet for generations. Steve “Dink” Achard is the only child of Ruth Dangberg Achard. He is the last male surviving from the family tree of H.F. Dangberg Jr. Buedel is a professional writer and photographer who conducted more than six years of diligent research on the Dangberg family.
