Firewood not available in Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park

The 2011 wood-permit sale for Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park is canceled due to a lack of corded wood.

“The few cords we do have are just not accessible at this point,” Jay Howard, park supervisor, said in a press release. “Crews will continue to work to make more wood available so we can be ready for a sale next year.”

This cancellation is for Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park only and its backcountry areas such as Spooner Lake, Hobart Lake and Van Sickle near Stateline.

Other agencies, such as the U.S. Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management, may have wood permits available.

Contact the park directly at (775) 831.0494 with any questions.
