The Sept. 25 Lake Tahoe Marathon will mean delays for motorists as runners take over highways in the basin.

caltransCaltrans says expect 10-30 delays from 6:30am-1:30pm from the junction of highways 89 and 28 in Tahoe City to Spring Creek Road for those headed south.

The northbound lane of Highway 89 will be closed during that same time period.

I don’t understand why the races can’t start at this end and only use one lane. This area is the reason why people come to the lake. You prevented their access to the area all day.
We had to be at an event at Squaw Valley yesterday and it meant we needed to drive all the way around the lake arriving late for our friends’ baby christening.
