Peter Maktenieks, 50, and Amy Pass, 39, both died in what appears to be an accidental fire, said Capt. Jeffrey Ausnow, North Tahoe station commander for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

    Good mornoing,
I am the sister of Peter Maktenieks. If you google my brothers name, I believe it is the second link that shows the initiative that has been developed in his honor. It’s called the ‘Peter Maktenieks HomeSAFE Initiative’. I was hoping that you would be willing to do a follow up story that would promote awarness to residential fire deaths and the options available for home owners to protect their families. Please let me know.
    Sincerely,
    Tracy Jenkins
