Last night’s burn on Angora Ridge looked to me like an out of control burn. Would have been nice for the forest service to be a little more forthcoming about the scope of the burns, as opposed to the milk toast info about it they were presenting to us. I’m sure 911 got a plethora of calls (myself included).

You can sign up on their email list…..
The burn looked like nice little circles, not an out of control wild fire.

I live on the uphill border of the fire and to me it was well managed, well publisized, and completely under control at all times. Cudos to the USFS and burn crews for a job well done!

To those complimenting our efforts on the Angora prescribed fire Tuesday night, thank you! It went very well.

To Tahoe T, here’s what we said about the scope of this prescribed fire in our news release:

“If a window of good weather conditions occurs, crews will burn as much of the approximately 440 acres of piles as they can accomplish safely and while minimizing the effects of smoke on local communities. If crews light a significant number of acres at one time, the project may produce a smoke plume resembling that of a wildland fire.”

As one commenter mentioned, you can get prescribed fire updates directly by emailing pa_ltbmu@fs.fed.us and asking to be added to the notification list.

By the way, we completed about 70 acres so far, with more to come as soon as Saturday, weather permitting.

Thanks again for supporting us while we try to knock this project out this fall.
