NV Energy income less than a year ago

NV Energy today reported that income for the third quarter is less than it was this time last year.

For the quarter ending Sept. 30, the energy company posted net income of $173.5 million, or 73 cents a share. In 2010, the company earned $177.5 million, or 75 cents a share.

Normally this is a high-demand quarter for NV with all the users in Las Vegas turning on their air conditioners.

The company is awarding a cash dividend of 13 cents a share, payable on Dec. 21 to shareholders of record on Dec. 6.
