No burning allowed today in Washoe County

A burn ban is in effect for Washoe County because of air pollution.

The Washoe District Health Department issued the code red at 8:25am Sunday.

People with respiratory problems and children are advised to stay indoors.

The health department cited a high level of fine particles in pollution in air, or particulate matter smaller than 2.5 micrometers in diameter.
