What I will remember most about 2011 is how The City Mgr. Tony O’Rourke was able to RUIN the lives of so many Retirees for there New Year’s Present, The Cities PRESENT to the RETIREES was a letter RAISING our medical Coverage by 400% and forcing so much heart break on it,s employees and Retirees.

And a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF THE JERKS THAT HAVE RUINED THIS WONDERFUL CITY. THEY SHOULD BE SO PROUD OF THEMSELVES.
JUST THINK HOW HAPPY YOU WOULD BE IF ON DECEMBER 19,2011 YOU WERE TO RECEIVE A LETTER TELLING YOU THAT AS OF THE FIRST OF JANUARY 2012 THAT YOUR HOUSE PAYMENT WOULD BE GOING UP BY 400%.
BELIEVE ME IT IS NOT A FUN CHRISTMAS LETTER TO OPEN,

What I remember most is the sound of Eagle Falls early in the spring, what a roar! Tied to a buoy at the boat camp after spending the night floating in Emerald Bay and watching the stars at night. Clip off the buoy at daybreak and troll around the bay with my favorite lure of the day at the end of my line.
On a more somber note the actions against city employees, former and current, cutting off programs and leasing out public properties is a real cause for concern…It used to be getting a job with the City of SLT was considered a real good thing. Now everybody’s head is on the chopping block…or well, almost everybody!
I hope the city council learns how to drive a grader or sanding truck before we get our first big storm, as we’re going to need all the help we can get!
    Take care, Old Long Skiis

Devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

    Arab Spring.

    Osama Bin Laden was killed.

    Royal wedding in England.

US economy continues to drag, and other countries around the world default.

    Flooding in Thailand.

    Kim Jung Il dies.

South Lake Tahoe sees a little bit of promise with the construction @ “Bill’s’ (Stateline, NV), construction at the old Mikasa building at the “Y”, and Grass Root’s buying the old “Blockbuster” building.

Now if we could just allow someone to buy the hole project (cut Randy Lane’s ties), we might have us some real forward momentum ;)

My office area that became a dog park with an optional runway! The uncertainty of my future after having dedicated the last 10 years to my career. The unethical and unwarranted promotions of kindred spirits of the CM. The heartache of watching my brothers and sisters virtually fall to pieces in the public eye after being pubicly denounced and evicerated, learning that they were no longer necessary to the CM’s mission. My heart and my allegiance goes out to the employees that are picking up the pieces of their lives and starting over. I am and always will be fond of many of you. At one point and time we were all a family! May 2012 prove to be an overall better year than what we have all just endured! Peace and Love to you all!!

The City of South Lake Tahoe Mafia hit man, O’Roarke.

Six years ago my wife was “thrown away” by the City. Some people who fell victim to this 2011 layoff laughed about that and even had some influence in making it happen to her. I’m just biding my time waiting for the remainder of those individuals to feel what it’s like to be discarded. Maybe 2012 will be the year for more comeuppance.

Job loss and the passing of good friends.

To Geeper, I think the term I’m hearing now is “The Cleaner”. Good movie but it’s not fun when it’s real.

To former usmc… Not really sure who laughed but I am certainly not laughing at any of the layoffs that have been delivered. It’s a human wasteland quite frankly. I am terribly sorry for your wife’s job loss. I am sick inside for the dedicated people who have been thrown out like last nights leftovers that no one wanted. Kharma is a heavy coat to wear in hell.

I agree with you Krista. I’m sorry for your job loss you didn’t deserve it and also to your Bride 4-mer USMC. Here’s to Kharma!
