Bomb squad takes care of ordnance left at gun shop

Ordnance left at a Gardnerville gun store was disposed of Monday by the Douglas County bomb squad.

Deputies took it to the Douglas County Shooting Range where it was disposed of via controlled detonation.

The owner of the store discovered the ordnance sitting outside the rear of his shop when he opened for business Jan. 9.

The ordnance consisted of unexploded gas canisters, grenade simulators, and an 81mm smoke mortar round.

Authorities say dropping ordnance off in this manner is not safe. To dispose of items properly, call (775) 782.5126.
