Tahoe City Golf Course’s future is the subject of a noon Feb. 7 meeting at Tahoe City Public Utility District’s board room (221 Fairway Drive, Tahoe City).

The district is still finalizing the $5 million agreement to buy the property from the Bechdolt family.

Still to be decided is if the property would remain a golf course.

For information, call (530) 583.3796, ext. 21.

If the subject property is not to remain a golf course, what are the reasons for this?

Is it because as we all know golf is on the decline and will be nearly obsolete in 15-years according to the National Golf Federation?

If yes, pass on this information to the CSP in regards to WMSP.

The idea that golf is on the decline has been invented by the environmentalists to give them moral justification for putting golf courses out of business, IMHO. With the projected retirement population of baby boomers, golf will be one of the most popular activities for retirees, unless it is impossible to afford.

Keep in mind that the TC golf course is not a 18-hole course. It is small and being so doesn’t draw the crowds and the revenues that the larger courses in the Tahoe and Truckee areas do. Plus the course doesn’t have a club house or any of the “fancy” amenities.

I would prefer to see the property turned into a beautiful recreation/community center with a pool, which is something that our community has been lacking for years. Both Truckee and Incline have great facilities, and it would be a true asset for Tahoe City.
