NHP officer hurt in traffic collision

A Nevada Highway Patrol officer was injured in a vehicle accident in Douglas County on Feb. 18.

Trooper Dan Lopez sustained minor injuries when the driver of another vehicle allegedly ran the red light at the intersection of highways 88 and 395 on Saturday at 5:19am.

The right front of the errant driver’s vehicle struck the left front portion of the patrol vehicle. The crash was investigated by Douglas County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver of the vehicle, whose name has not been released, was arrested at the scene on charges of driving under the influence.

Lopez was treated and released from Carson Valley Medical Center.
