Realtors meeting about TRPA Regional Plan
The South Tahoe Association of Realtors’ Government Affairs Director Hayley Williamson will give a presentation on Tahoe Regional Planning Agency’s draft Regional Plan update and how changes impact homeowners and the real estate community at an April 3 lunch.
Those interested in attending should call (530) 541.7007 or send an email to STAOR@STAOR.org.
The lunch meeting is from 11:3am-1:30pm at Harveys in Stateline. Cost is $10 for STAR members, $15 for non-members.
We hope you’ll join us to learn more about how we’ve been working to protect homeowner’s rights via the TRPA’s Regional Plan Update process. If you’re not a member, just $15 will buy your 2 course lunch and provide you with valuable information.
Be careful – the update may simply be the “Emperor’s New Clothes”, which may cause consternation among realtors’ and those overly concerned about their ‘property rights'(they are already as low as they probably will go w/o without necessary upgrades).
If it my understanding that the CA Board of Realtors gave STAR $ 5,000 to “sit in on” the Regional Plan Update meetings, based on their own conclusion that TRPA is to be some sort of beacon on SB 375, the ‘Sustainable Community Strategy (also known as the Anti-Sprawl Bill), then they may be tailoring the clothes the Emperor is to wear.
Please note: the TRPA had 3 years on their own to “update”, before contracting one person to progress for two years (gone),& have now engaged yet another to do it – with the current announcement that the “drafts” are behind schedule and will not be released in time. . . that doesn’t sound like something to pay too much credence to, especially given so many aborted time-lines and attempts.
Paying attention to a process like this can create so many “false positives” (or negatives, take your pick) that it is certainly premature to be considered anywhere close to “gospel”.
A word to the wise. . .
