South Shore orthopedic physicians will screen children March 31 for possible acceptance into the medical programs offered by Shriners Hospital for Children Northern California.

The screening clinic will take place from 9am- noon at the Lake Tahoe Surgery Center, 212 Elks Point Road, Ste. 201, Round Hill.

All families who believe they may benefit from the expert care provided by Shriners Hospitals for Children are welcome to attend. Appointments are not necessary, and any child up to age 18 may be seen at a clinic. Screenings are free. A parent or legal guardian is required to complete paperwork at the clinic before being seen by the doctor.

The clinics are open to all children with orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries, burns, and scars from any cause. Club foot, scoliosis, absence of limbs, spina bifida, and orthopedic problems of cerebral palsy are among the many orthopedic conditions treated at the Shriners medical center in Sacramento.

Shriner’s Hospitals have provided orthopedic and burn treatment, for no cost, for many years. This wonderful organization has hospitals from coast to coast and one in Mexico City.
My ex-husband, father-in-law and grandfather were all Shriners. These guys are a lot more than fezzes and funny cars in parades. Check out their great work at this website.

I agree. I work with children who have developmental disabilities. Some of these children also receive Shriner’s services. Shriner’s provides high quality services and is a great resource for families. I encourage anyone who feels they may be in need of Shriner’s services, to attand this clinic. It is a great opportunity.
