Fire destroys house in Alpine Meadows subdivision

A house in the Alpine Meadows subdivision about five miles east of Colfax was destroyed by fire Wednesday noon.
According to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Doug Rinella, a neighbor across the street from the one-story home located in the 28000 block of Manzanita Trail noticed flames shooting through the structure’s roof.
“It’s probably going to end up a total loss,” said Rinella, who estimates the loss at about $200,000.
