Members for federal advisory committee being sought

The U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is accepting applications for individuals to serve on the 2013-15 Lake Tahoe Basin Federal Advisory Committee.

Applications will be accepted until July 20.

Individuals interested in taking an active role in Lake Tahoe issues are encouraged to apply.

The committee provides a critical role in advising the secretary of Agriculture and Lake Tahoe’s Federal Interagency Partnership on programs and funds to achieve the goals of the Lake Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program.

Twenty LTFAC members will be selected to represent the Lake Tahoe Basin. Two representatives will be selected as members-at-large, and one representative will be selected from each of the following sectors: 1) gaming, 2) environmental, 3) national environmental, 4) ski resorts, 5) North Shore economic/recreation, 6) South Shore economic/recreation, 7) resorts associations, 8) education, 9) property rights advocates, 10) science and research, 11) California local government, 12) Washoe Tribe, 13) California, 14) Nevada, 15) Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, 16) labor, 17) transportation, and 18) Nevada local government.

Appointments will be made by the U.S. secretary of Agriculture.
