Truckee residents say yes to organ donation

Truckee leads the way in drivers agreeing to donate organs for transplant.
A ceremony last week at the Truckee Department of Motor Vehicles field office marked the town ranking first in the state when it comes to the percentage of drivers checking “yes” to organ and tissue donation.
Only about 26 percent of licenses statewide check yes. The Truckee field office has 53 percent answering in the affirmative.
“Truckee is proud to be leading California for the rate of people saying yes to donation,” said Mayor Joan DeRyk Jones. “It’s about giving life.”
