2 birds in South Lake Tahoe found to have West Nile virus

Two American robins from the Tahoe Keys area tested positive for the West Nile virus.

The birds were found June 6.

The El Dorado County Environmental Management Department released the news June 19.

To date, no human cases of the virus have been reported in 2012.

When a dead bird or squirrel is found, call the state West Nile Virus Hotline at 877.968.2473.
