Driving by Sierra-at-Tahoe on Monday at dusk it looked like there was enough snow to ski on.

A bitter cold storm blew through Northern California and Northern Nevada on June 4, dumping measurable snow on Echo Summit, which at times necessitated Caltrans to post chain control requirements.

The commute Monday night over Spooner Summit into the Lake Tahoe Basin was windy, with snow at the crest.

Snow was also at lake level.

The National Weather Service in Reno is calling for a 20 percent chance of rain-snow on Tuesday in Tahoe. The overnight lows for Monday and Tuesday will be in the 20s.

Summer-like weather returns Thursday, as the temps will be close to 70 degrees.

Covered the vegetable garden with a tarp and brought potted plants into the shelterd entryway. Gotta love sierra weather! Many years ago I remember it snowing on the 4th of july. Hang in there intrepid tahoe gardeners, it will start to warm up later in the week.
    Take care, Old Long Skiis
