T.J. Maxx signs lease for South Lake Tahoe store
It’s signed. That would be the lease between T.J. Maxx and the property owners at the Y in South Lake Tahoe.
Now the interior improvements can begin. Those are expected to take three to four months, with the discount retailer able to open in the fall.
This means the store will open in time for the holidays – even though it will be nearly a year after the retain chain originally intended to open.
The manager and assistant manager positions that were posted on the store’s website in May are still online.
No one from the Massachusetts-based company was available for comment Wednesday night.

who cares?
I care. Hopefully a good anchor store will bring shoppers back to the Y which may in turn bring back stores across the street. With the nice new Raley’s gas station, things will start to look revitalized!
how much did they pay for the AIR MITIGATION FEE ?
That will be a wonderful addition to the Y area – glad it worked out!
The Y is clawing it’s way back from the grave. It still needs CPR but this will help and it’s looking much better-
Glad to hear the Y will be having a new store put in,Thats the way we roll in Lake Tahoe,It is a beautiful community we all live in,The building has been so empty for so long,More jobs also for people who are having it tough,Positive ways of thinking is good .
I hope they bring back the arts and crafts shows that used to be on that corner! We always enjoyed them in the summer.
Lo…I believe the same company has them elsewhere in town. Did anyone notice another new business that popped up? Next to the miniature golf where the old amusement park was. Says “Tahoe Craft Village” …Eat, Shop, Create. Can’t wait to see what it will be! Overlooking the river there would be a great spot for casual dining.
