Thank you to the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department for the speedy response early this morning when we discovered two smoking areas with red embers remaining as we walked in that area.

I don’t suppose it could have been one of the millions of cigarette butts which are carelessly tossed out of people’s cars…still burning? Nah… it was probably another campfire, right? That’s why there are always road signs stating “no campfires”, but not a single sign about smoking in the Tahoe Basin, even though cigarettes are the #1 cause of preventable forest fires. I wonder who was responsible for the gondola fire? Did the person ever even get arrested? I guess arson is okay in Tahoe, as long as it is done with the blessing of the tobacco industry… http://www.longwood.edu/cleanva/cigbuttimpacts.htm

Cars are equipped with ashtrays. Too bad that not all smokers use them. Please use your ashtray. What are some of you thinking? I guess you don’t care.
