Vodka stories could be worth 2 tickets to cocktail event
Ten bartenders will compete next month for the best drink of the night as a fundraiser for Barton Health Foundation.
Lake Tahoe News is giving away two tickets to the Sept. 13, 5:30-8pm event at Riva Grill in South Lake Tahoe.
If you don’t win, tickets are $25 each in advance or $30 at the door.
Jesse Kalin volunteers as the entertainment and Dreu Murin volunteers as the emcee. Tahoe Blue Vodka is the vodka sponsor.
Participating bars-restaurants are Cantina, Capisce, Edgewood, Embassy, Heavenly, Lakeside, LewMarNels, Naked Fish, Riva and Steamers.
To win the tickets, you must either submit a recipe (via a comment) using vodka or tell us about your favorite vodka drink. The other criterion is that you must be part of Lake Tahoe News’ special NEWS team. To be a team member, fill out the paid subscriber form. The winner must be willing to have their full name published. Winners will be announced the week of the event.
To get you thirsty, here is the first cocktail entry from Sue Wood.

2 ounces vodka
½ ounce Chambord raspberry liqueur
3 ounces pineapple juice
Splash of club soda
Mix all the ingredients over ice. Serve on a hot Tahoe day.
Is it just me that feels that using booze to raise money for a hospital is wrong, the foundation loves doing this I hope everyone gets home safe.
Tahoe Blue Vodka is produced in Mountain View and the sales lady I met at an event lives in Roseville. What exactly does that have to do with Tahoe???
Love when bartenders make margaritas with vodka.
Barton Foundation Cocktail Contest is happy to have Tahoe Blue Vodka – which is locally owned and operated – to be a part of the festivities to the usually sold out crowd. Patrons will “sample” cocktails that are paired with delicious food provided by Riva Grill. It’s truly a local’s celebration with Dreu Murin as our host and music enjoyed by our own Jesse Kalin. If needed, taxi service is always provided as a benefit. All monies will assist in raising our ER to a level 3 trauma center.
My daughter came up with this one. Blue Moon Gibson: 2oz. Tahoe Blue Vodka, 1/2oz. Blue Curacao, 1/2oz. sweet and sour, 1/2oz. dry vermouth. Shake/strain into martini glass, garnish with cocktail onion. It really does come out a Lake Tahoe blue.
I like to cut up fresh pineapple, pack it in a jar ,fill the jar with vodka and let set for 30 days and then enjoy the pineapple infused liquore. Very tasty!!
Always use a top shelf vodka. It makes a difference.
I want to go to Bob’s!
