Two El Dorado County men were arrested Monday and are facing felony manslaughter charges in connection with the drug-related death of a Pollock Pines teen.

Jesse Howard Roberts, 21, and Elijah Lee Richter, 20, both of Camino, were arrested and booked into El Dorado County jail on felony charges of involuntary manslaughter, the El Dorado Sheriff’s Office announced.

According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, Alejandro Nunez Avila, 15, is believed to have voluntarily ingested a hallucinogenic drug sometime late Saturday or early Sunday.

Authorities responded to a Pollock Pines residence where they unsuccessfully tried to revive Avila, according to the release. Avila was transported to Marshall Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say they learned during their subsequent investigation that Avila had invested a new drug developed in Germany called 2-CB, 2-Cl or 2-5Bomb. It is clear in color and can be in liquid or powder form.

Incredibly sad. It makes the work of everyone involved in drug PREVENTION with our kids even more important. There will always be drugs available to our kids. The thing we adults have to do is to provide kids with factual information about what all drugs can do to your body and mind. All drugs CHANGE the way the mind and body work. The drugs our kids have access to are in fact dangerous whether they are prescribed, OTC, or from the street. I couldn’t believe the recent writings from individuals who claim marijuana can cure cancer. Really? And you wonder why our kids are confused? Shame on you. They are costing us lives and they are financially hurting our community and country. Adults who care need to be vigilant in our community. We need to be active and not bystanders. If you know something is going on with our kids, do something about it! Be involved, be invested. Walk the talk. My heart goes out to this young man’s family and also to the others involved. Drugs are just plain stupid.

The above comment is incredibly ignorant and obviously very uninformed. To attack medical cannabis when so many studies HAVE shown it to have anti cancer qualities makes your comment laughable. And the fact that they are in the process of removing it as a schedule 1 drug because it has been found to have medicinal value is worth noting. To compare designer and hard drugs is the typical move of sheep and propagandists alike. Read some!
